Attachment and Attunement Program
History of the program: This program has been in the making for many, many years. It started in 1996 when Lilly first became an aunt and became interested in child development and as a high school student while working alongside children in volunteer settings and summer camps. The ideas for this program matured in 2010 when Lilly became a parent and in 2013 and 2015 when working alongside families on the Mexico-Texas/Arizona border areas
There was a persistant thought that came up in working with children and families...How do some children bounce back during adversity and how do some just stay stuck? Socioeconomic status nor the school environment were the strongest factors of a child's ability to develop resiliency and growth skill in these early years ... It seemed to be that the attunement and attachment with caregivers ( parents, teachers, babysitters, extended family) were more crucial in development and preparation for future years.
Goals of this program: Develop an understanding of the brain, explore the importance of healthy attachment and attunement (sibling relationship/parent- child relationships) and create flexibility within predictability.
Who does this program serve best:
-the thoughtful caregiver interested in learning about in depth brain development of their child but confused where to start.
-the well intentioned high achieving parent that has challenges relating to their child's emotions
